Engineers at the company’s West Yorkshire plant will be ‘downing tools’ over a pay dispute, which is expected to hamper production in the critical run-up to the festive season.
The UK supermarket giant has announced plans to axe 200 cafes, end its hot food range in 34 stores and ‘re-evaluate’ its bakery counter setup in 54 stores – putting more than 2,000 jobs at risk.
The Scottish Government-formed Action Group is today tabling a proposal to Pladis to build a new cost-efficient plant on a nearby site in order to save the jobs threatened by the closure of the Tollcross factory.
